Roofers

Websites for roofers

Roofing sells on visible proof and fast response. The site has to show finished work, prove you're not a cowboy, and be ready when the weather turns.

You're fighting a reputation you didn't earn

No trade carries more baggage. Every customer has heard the stories — the doorstep "we noticed your tiles" approach, the deposit taken for work never done, the job that doubled in price halfway through. Before they judge your work, they're deciding whether you're one of those.

The counter is not adjectives. Writing "trusted, reliable, professional" is what everyone does, including the ones taking deposits. The counter is verifiable detail: a company number, insurance figures, named people, a guarantee with actual terms, reviews with dates attached, and photographs of work that's obviously yours.

Two kinds of enquiry, weeks apart

Storm damage and emergency leaks arrive in a rush, from people who need someone today and will call whoever appears first. Planned re-roofing arrives slowly, from people collecting three quotes over a fortnight. Your site needs to serve both, and the mistake is building only for the second.

  • An emergency page that already exists. Written and ranking before the storm, not after. Phone number first, coverage area, honest response times.
  • Before-and-after galleries. The most persuasive content in roofing and the most under-used. One photo of a stripped roof and the finished result beats a page of copy.
  • A page per roof type and service. Pitched, flat, EPDM, GRP, tiles, slate, chimney and leadwork, guttering, moss removal, roof surveys. Each gets searched by name.
  • Guarantees in specifics. "10-year workmanship guarantee, in writing, transferable if you sell the house" means something. "Fully guaranteed" means nothing.
  • Access and safety. Scaffolding, working at height, method — evidence you run a proper site rather than a ladder against the gutter.
  • Insurance work. If you handle claims and deal with loss adjusters, say so. It's a real differentiator and almost nobody mentions it.

Build the storm page in July

When a named storm crosses the North West, searches for emergency roof repair spike for roughly three days and then collapse. Ranking takes weeks, so the only roofers who catch it are the ones whose page has been live and indexed for months. It's the clearest example we know of seasonal work that has to be done out of season.

Getting found

Roofing is heavily map-driven and heavily review-driven, so the highest-return work is usually your Google Business Profile — categories, service areas, and a steady flow of recent job photos. After that, service and town pages built through local SEO. The free local SEO guide covers the same ground if you want to attempt it yourself first.

What it costs

A Starter site from £799 is enough for a small roofing firm. If you want a page per roof type and per town — which is how you win the planned re-roofing work rather than just the emergencies — that's a Growth site from £1,899. Fixed in writing before we start. Our guide to UK website costs explains what other quotes in those brackets actually include.

Questions & answers

Questions from roofers

How do I stop being lumped in with cowboy roofers?

By being verifiable. Company number, insurance, a real address or at least a real town, named people, a guarantee with terms, and reviews with dates. Rogue traders can't produce any of that, so producing it separates you immediately — which is worth far more than saying 'trusted' anywhere on the page.

Should I offer free roof inspections?

It converts well because it removes the risk of asking, and it gets you on the roof where the real conversation happens. Just define it — what's included, whether there's a report, how far you'll travel — or you'll spend your week driving to jobs that were never going to happen.

How do I handle the storm rush?

Have the page already built. When the wind hits, emergency search volume spikes for about seventy-two hours and whoever already ranks takes it. A page written the week after a storm is useless. Build it in the quiet months.

Do drone survey photos help?

A lot. Most customers have never seen their own roof, and showing them the actual problem converts far better than describing it. It also gives you before-and-after content, which for roofing is the strongest sales asset you own.

How much of my site should be about flat roofing?

Its own page if you do it. Flat roofing, EPDM, GRP, chimney work, leadwork and moss removal are all searched by name, and they're higher-margin than someone comparing four quotes on a full re-roof.
